Jean Philippe Patisserie and other places to eat

I mentioned earlier that one of the best things about Aria was Jean Philippe Patisserie.

We tried a couple chocolates including a Hazelnut Praline truffle, which was awesome. For breakfast they have various pastries, and we tried the Nutella Brioche and Sticky Bun. In the afternoon, they brought out more pastries and desserts, so we tried the Oreo something or other pictured here.

Other Eateries/Restaurants

Earl of Sandwich - Great sandwiches at Planet Hollywood. I had the Roast Beef with cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce, and it was great. But the best part is it's only $5.99! We went for lunch and decided to stop by again around midnight since they're open 24 hours!

Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina - We went for lunch, so the menu was a bit limited but the food was great, and definitely affordable. It's located inside Crystals at Citycenter. I had the Ricotta Gnocchi with Bolognese sauce and it was pretty good. Also tried some of the turkey panini with balsamic onions.

Lemongrass - At Aria, DO NOT eat here, it sucks...food was overpriced and service sucked.

BLT Burger - Probably the third time we've eaten at this burger place at the Mirage, it's good.

Sugar Factory - We tried some chocolates (Hot Fudge Sundae, hazelnut praline, strawberry cheesecake) here at Planet Hollywood, and they're really good, not to mention cheaper than Jean Philippe. Stopped by the one at Mirage, and they didn't have chocolates, strange.

Terry Fator at the Mirage

I heard from a co-worker that this show was very good. I didn't know how much I would enjoy a ventriloquist show where the guy sings. I looked it up on tripadvisor and it was ranked as the #2 attraction in Vegas!!!

This convinced me to want to see the show and sure enough, Terry Fator didn't disappoint. Terry Fator won America's Got Talent and earned himself a show in Vegas. After seeing this show, I can't see how anyone could have won.

His ability to be a ventriloquist and sing songs was amazing enough for me. But not only that, he sang songs from such a wide variety of genres- country to hip hop to oldies. Add to that, he actually sang very well. But that wasn't it either, the show was also hilarious! I was laughing the entire time. Definitely recommend seeing this show. Tickets at Tix4Tonight were only ~$75 for $120 seats. Mirage offers a 20% discount on their seats if you don't want to stand in line at Tix4Tonight.

Michael Jordan sighting

We just left a restaurant at Aria and looked ahead to see someone who resembled MJ. We decided to take a closer look, and if it wasn't MJ, maybe it was someone famous anyway....

As we came closer, sure enough, it was him. He was there with his girlfriend and some other white people haha. We tried to get a picture, but it was also a little awkward, so we didn't. He walked away, and we went on our way to Jean Philippe Patisserie.

I still saw him walking, and decided we should just go and try to get a picture. He walked into a restaurant, which made it easier to get some pictures without him frowning on us haha.

Jordan had his "flight school" at the Mirage this weekend. While we were getting our show tickets over there (on Friday), we saw Doc Rivers and Alvin Gentry coming out of the convention center area. Shook hands with Doc Rivers, and that was that.

Aria Las Vegas

Stayed at the Aria this weekend, and I'd say the room was really nice. This little electronic control pad was pretty cool too, but just about everything else, not so great.....pool was boring, restaurants were NOT good, and service was so so....

Jean Philippe Patisserie was pretty damn good though.

Oh yea, also tried the $20 trick....the guy at the front desk called his manager to try to upgrade our room to a corner suite, but was unsuccessful. He returned the $20, said he wouldn't feel right taking it, but the best the manager could do was offer us the upgrade to a Corner Suite for $50/night. We politely declined.

World of Color

California Adventure's new show, World of Color was amazing!

We entered California Adventure at 9:30 AM. We had been to CA Adv before at around 9:50 (park opens at 10). People are allowed through the gates at 9:30, but you are not allowed past a certain point to go on the majority of the rides. Then at 10 AM everyone rushes to Toy Story, it's just nuts.

So there we are at 9:30, we get through the gates and everyone's rushing. Thinking that there's no point in rushing, we casually stroll through until we realize there is a "Fast Pass" for World of Color. The fast pass line was ridiculous! We were probably in line for about 30 minutes just to get a fast pass for the 9:00 PM showing of World of Colors.

The fast pass says to go to the viewing area at 7:45. We got there around 7:30, to join a crowd of people (with Fast Passes) to get into the viewing area.

Finally, the show started at 9:00 PM and it was well worth the wait. Easily the best water show I've ever seen (not many, but still), and 10 times better than Fantasmic. The choreography of the water with both the music and the movie clips was genius! I wish I could better describe it, but I have to just recommend you see it for yourself.

Disneyland

Got an annual pass for disneyland again, went today and it was pretty crowded haha.

First ride we got on was Indiana Jones and right when we got on, it broke down. sucks, woulda been cooler if it broke down in the middle of the ride.

On Thunder Mountain, the ride stopped and I thought "cool"....then they said the ride would resume shortly, boooo.
Who has a pass to disneyland? Let's go!
